Dr. Hurley team arrived in Haiti and David and David, Jr were able to pick them up at the airpor, get through the maze of people and take them to the hospital where they will be working and staying for the next two weeks. David, Jr's first time to drive in Haiti....he said he would rather drive than ride. For those of you who have been there you know it is always a matter of inches when meeting other vehicles.
David was able to give Christy an overall view of Haiti. I think they had a good time seeing the sights, sharing and meeting many of our staff, Haitian friends and family.
All four of them (David, David, Jr, Betsy and Christy) flew back to the US today. They were on three different planes at three different times. David, Sr. arrived in Tupelo about 9:15pm for meetings with the Leadership Team and the Executive Committee at the home office all week. He will fly back to Haiti the first of next week. Betsy and Christy are having to overnight in Chicago and will arrive in Louisville tomorrow noon. David, Jr was to arrive in Louisville at midnight tonight but is having to overnight in Dallas before heading to Louisville tomorrow. These are sure "long ways around" to get back to Louisville?????
Update on Mom....
She is holding her own. As her internist told me this morning...."she has a long way to go".
She really enjoyed all the family that visited yesterday....her stepson and his wife, grandchildren and their spouses, great grand children and especially her 8 month old great great granddaughter Kinsley. She told me last night that she was tired but the visitors sure lifted her spirits.
